High School Seniors

Generally Speaking

Please let us know if you want to show any tattoos that you may have. Because peeling skin does not look attractive in photos, please avoid over-sunning or sunburn.

Do not worry about minor breakouts, or complexion problems. These can be fixed post-session. Heavy breakouts can also be retouched, but may require an additional retouching fee. Also, scars and braces can be removed as well.

Lastly, I encourage you to bring items that help define who you are; such as a guitar, soccer ball, hobbies, even a car. Bringing a pet is okay too; however, please make sure there is someone there to take of the pet while you are being photographed. Remember, these images are about self-expression, who you are. Use your creativity for the items you want to bring.

Ladies

Small details matter, please have your nails neatly trimmed and polished. Don’t forget your toes! As tempting as it might be, I do not recommend trying out any new hairstyles or coloring in the event you are not satisfied with the outcome; however a hair trim is a great idea. Bring along any hair accessories for easy style changes.

As for makeup, slightly heavier makeup photographs well. However, be sure not to over-due it. Pay extra attention to the eye makeup, avoiding clumps in the mascara. To eliminate shine, please remember to bring along translucent powder.

Now for clothing: for black and white images, wearing black is best. A black top and a favorite pair of jeans will offer up a nice contrast between your skin and clothing; this looks fabulous in black and white images. Clothes that flatter you are best, baggy clothing may make you look larger. Tight or snug fitting clothes may not compliment you all the way around and in different poses. What looks great while standing looking in a mirror, may not look so great sitting, squatting or otherwise. You may rest assured that I will let you know if your clothing is unflattering. Also, be aware of the right undergarments. Wearing white pants and flowered underwear or bra is not a good thing. A more natural colored undergarment is best.

Jewelry is best kept simple; we want the focus to be on you!

Lastly, bring your prom dress or favorite dress for some fun and artistic shots!

Gentlemen

Want to wear a hat for some of your images? Great, but please do not wear the hat until it is time for the shot. This is because a hat can leave red lines along your forehead. Like suggested to the ladies, it is recommended that you do not try out any new hair styles right before your session, just in case you are not happy with the outcome.
Bring something that will look good in black and white images, such as a pair of jeans and a black shirt, and also bring some clothing for color images – don’t be afraid of bold colors and patterns. Jackets, coats, ties, and other accessories are great to put on for a few shots too.

Lastly, relax! This will be a fun experience; a memory that will last a lifetime. Congratulations as you begin a new chapter in your life.
